Additionally, Globe deployed its own portable two-way radio infrastructure, acquired prepaid satellite phones; and recently completed the implementation of its Cell Broadcast System which will be used to release Free Disaster Alerts.
In 2015, Globe joined six telecommunications companies from six countries in the GSMA Humanitarian Connectivity Charter designed to ensure people’s access to communication and information during a crisis in order to minimize loss of life and aid humanitarian response.
Globe has adopted a number of mechanisms of the GSMA Humanitarian Connectivity Charter, including transmittal of free mobile alerts via SMS.
It was also in 2015 when Globe became the first telecommunications company in the Philippines to be re-certified in Business Continuity on an enterprise-wide scale. It also received from the British Standard Institute an ISO 22301: 2012 or the Business Continuity Management System Standard. This recognizes its implementation of best practices on business resiliency based on its efforts to plan, establish, implement, operate, monitor, review, maintain, and continually improve a documented management system.
